Rediscovery is the act of finding, noticing, or learning about something again after it was forgotten, lost, or ignored. It is often used for ideas, places, works of art, or personal interests. The word suggests that the thing already existed before but becomes important again.

re- が「もう一度」、discovery が「発見」なので、まず discover「見つける」を知っていれば組み立てやすい語です。初めて見つける discovery と違い、rediscovery は「昔知っていた良さ・忘れていた事実を改めて見つけ直す」感じ。rediscover an old song, rediscover the value of reading のように、過去に触れていたものが戻る場面と結びつけると残ります。recovery は「回復」で別語、という対比もしておくと混同しにくいです。
Break it into `re-` + `discovery`. If `discovery` is finding something, `rediscovery` is finding it again, often something old or forgotten. Think of phrases like `rediscover an old song` or `rediscover the joy of reading`. Do not confuse it with `recovery`, which is about getting better.

rediscovery は re-「再び」+ discovery で、discovery は古フランス語 descovrir、ラテン語 discooperire（覆いを取る）にさかのぼる。cover や uncover と同じ語源を持ち、「隠れていた覆いを再び外す」と考えると再発見の感じがつかめる。
