Reproducibility is the ability to get the same result again when the same method is used. It is especially important in science, experiments, and research. If something has high reproducibility, other people should be able to repeat it and reach similar results.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
まず produce「生み出す」を軸に置き、re- で「もう一度」、-ity で「その性質」と見れば、「同じ条件なら同じ結果をもう一度生み出せる性質」とまとまります。reproducible が形容詞、reproducibility が名詞という語形セットで覚えると定着しやすいです。研究では ensure/improve reproducibility, reproducibility crisis が頻出。replicate は実際に再実験する行為、reproducibility は再現できる度合い、という違いも一緒に押さえると混同しにくくなります。

reproducibility は re-「再び」+ produce「生み出す」+ -ity「性質」。produce はラテン語 producere、pro-「前へ」+ ducere「導く」から成り、conduct や reduce と同根なので、「同じ結果をまた導ける性質」が語源どおりです。
Reproducibility comes from re- "again," produce, and -ity, which forms nouns of quality. Produce goes back to Latin producere, from pro- "forward" and ducere "to lead"; the same root appears in conduct and reduce. The word grew to mean the quality of being able to lead to the same result again.
