覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
re-「再び」＋publish「出版・公開する」に -ed を付けた形です。末尾の /ʃ/ は無声音なので -ed は /t/。古い本が新しい版で再び出る場面を思い浮かべましょう。
Combine re-, “again,” with publish, then add -ed. The ending is pronounced /t/ because publish ends in the voiceless sound /ʃ/. Picture an old book appearing again in a new edition.

re-「再び」+ publish「公にする」+ -ed から成る語です。publish は古フランス語 publier を経てラテン語 publicare「公にする」にさかのぼり、public・publication と同根で、「もう一度世に出す」から再発行の意味になります。
Republish is transparently formed from re-, meaning “again,” and publish. Publish came through Old French publier from Latin publicare, “to make public,” and is related to public and publication. Republished adds the regular past-tense and past-participle ending -ed. Its structure therefore literally indicates that a work has been made public for another time, whether in print or digitally.
