retroactivelyはretro-「後ろへ」+ act「行う」+ -ive + -ly。語源どおり「後ろ向きに作用する」が核で、今の決定を過去の時点へ及ぼす意味になる。retroやactionにも、後ろへたどる動きと行為の核が残る。
