Scientism is the belief that science is the best or only valid way to understand the world and answer important questions. The word is common in philosophy and criticism of ideas. It is often used in a negative way when someone thinks science is being applied too broadly.

science に -ism が付いた形だと見れば覚えやすいです。-ism は capitalism, feminism のように「主義・思想」を作る語尾なので、scientism は「科学そのもの」ではなく「科学を唯一の基準とみなす立場」。scientific は「科学的」、scientist は「科学者」で別物です。実際には praise よりも criticize される場面が多く、 accusations of scientism のように、行き過ぎた科学信仰を指す少し批判的な響きで出やすい語です。
This is easy to build from `science` + `-ism.` The ending `-ism` often means a belief system or ideology, as in many other English words. Also compare it with `scientific` and `scientist` so you keep the forms separate in memory.
