Subreddits are separate communities inside Reddit, each focused on a particular topic, interest, or group. People use them to post, discuss, and share content related to that subject. The word is usually used when talking about Reddit and online community spaces.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
sub- が付く語は「下位・一部」を作ることが多く、subtitle や subcategory を思い出すと覚えやすい。subreddit も「Reddit の下位コミュニティ」という感覚。巨大な Reddit 全体ではなく、話題ごとに分かれた小さな場だと捉える。post や thread は個々の投稿・話題、subreddit はそれらを入れる“部屋”単位。r/〜 の形で見かけたらその名前だと結び付けると定着しやすい。
Notice `sub-`, the same part you see in `subtitle` or `subcategory`. It often means a smaller part inside something bigger, so a `subreddit` is a smaller community inside Reddit. If you see `r/...`, connect it with one topic-based room, not the whole site.
