引き算、減算の演算処理。数学において大きい数から小さい数を引いて差を求める計算。
Subtractions are mathematical operations in which one number is taken away from another. The word is used in school math and basic arithmetic. It can also refer to several results or acts of subtracting, depending on the context.

Subtractions comes from Latin subtractio, built from sub- "from under" and trahere "to draw or pull." The original sense was of pulling something away or removing it. That image was later applied to arithmetic, where a number is mentally drawn away from another; related words include extract and attract.
