三つの言語を使える人や、三つの言語で書かれているもの・提供されるものを表す形容詞。人については三言語を話す能力、書籍や表示については内容が三言語に対応している状態を表す。必ずしも母語並みである必要はないが、実用的に三言語を運用できる文脈でよく使われる。
Trilingual describes a person who can speak three languages, or something that uses three languages. It is often used when talking about education, signs, books, or someone's language ability. It does not always mean the person speaks all three languages equally well.

英語学習では bilingual を先に覚えておくと、tri- に置き換えるだけで意味が取りやすい語です。tri- は triangle, tripod, tricycle などと同じく「3」、-lingual は bilingual / multilingual に共通して「言語を使う」感覚。人なら a trilingual speaker、サービスなら a trilingual menu / website / support。multilingual は「多言語」全般、trilingual は「ちょうど3言語」と数がはっきりしている点を意識すると残りやすいです。
If you know `bilingual`, this word is easy: just replace `bi-` with `tri-`. `Tri-` means three, like in `triangle` and `tricycle`, so `trilingual` is about three languages. Compare it with `multilingual`, which is less exact about the number.
