本影

光が遮られてできる影のうち、最も暗い中心部分を指します。日食や月食では完全に光が遮られる本影を表し、太陽黒点では周囲の半影より暗い中心部を指すこともあります。
Umbra is the darkest central part of a shadow, where light is completely blocked. It is often used in astronomy when describing eclipses, but it can also be used in physics more generally. This is a technical word rather than an everyday one.
