まず conditioned を『条件づけされた・慣らされた』として押さえ、先頭の un- で反転すると覚えると崩れにくい。心理学では conditioned response が学習で身についた反応、unconditioned response は訓練前から自然に起こる反応で、必ず対で覚えるのが近道。日常語では unconditional に引っぱられやすいが、unconditioned は『条件が付いていない』より『条件づけされていない』の感触が強い。unconditioned stimulus も頻出。
Read it literally as `un- + conditioned`: with no conditions attached. A strong memory hook is the phrase `unconditioned surrender`. Also note that `unconditional` is much more common, so `unconditioned` in this sense can sound formal or literary.

un-「否定」+ conditioned で、condition はラテン語 condicio「条件・取り決め」に由来します。con-「共に」+ dicere「言う」からでき、diction や predict と同じ dic-「言う」を含みます。言葉で縛る前提がない状態だと考えると、unconditioned が「無条件の」と見えます。
