Unsocial describes someone who is not interested in spending time with other people or joining social activities. It is used for behavior that is withdrawn or not friendly. The word is less common than unsociable in everyday English.

un-「〜でない」+ social。social はラテン語 socius「仲間」にさかのぼり、society や associate と同根です。もともと「仲間と結びつく」が核なので、unsocial は人づき合いを断つ感じが語形そのままに見えます。
Built from un- and social. Social comes from Latin socius, meaning "companion" or "ally," and the same root appears in society and associate. Because the root idea is connection with others, unsocial came to mean lacking that connection or avoiding normal social contact.
