If something is unverifiable, it cannot be checked or confirmed as true. This usually happens because there is not enough evidence, proof, or access to the facts. It is often used for claims, reports, data, and online information.

verify を知っていれば核は見える語です。un- で「否定」、-able で「〜できる」なので、verifiable が「検証できる」→ unverifiable で「検証できない」。ニュース、証言、ネット情報で「裏取りが取れない」という場面に結びつけると定着しやすいです。an unverifiable claim/story/source の形で見かけやすく、「証拠不足で確かめられない」と読む感覚を持つとよいです。unbelievable は「信じられないほど」、unverifiable は「真偽確認できない」で別物です。
The base is `verify`, and `-able` means "can be," so `verifiable` means something you can check. Add `un-` to make the opposite: you cannot confirm it. Think of news phrases like `an unverifiable claim` or `an unverifiable story`.

unverifiable は un-「〜でない」+ verify「真実と確かめる」+ -able「できる」で成る語です。verify は古フランス語経由で中世ラテン語 verificare、さらにラテン語 verus「真の」+ facere「作る」にさかのぼるので、「真だと確かめられない」がそのまま検証不能です。関連語は verify, verification。
