何でもとは、具体的に名前を付けるのが面倒な、様々な雑多なもの、またはあれやこれやを指します。「その他もろもろ」という意味の言葉です。
Whatnot is an informal word for various other things of a similar kind that are not named exactly. It is used when the full list is not important or is too long to give. The word is casual and common in spoken English.

Break it into "what" plus a loose ending, and hear it as "what and other things like that." It works as a broad, non-specific word, but it sounds old-fashioned or informal compared with "anything." Remember it as a word you may meet in writing, not one you should use often yourself.

whatnot は what + not の口語的複合語で、what は古英語 hwæt、not は古英語 nāwiht「何もない」由来。もとは列挙をぼかす「あれやこれや」の言い方で、そこから「その他もろもろ」という意味になった。whatever や naught が近い親類。
