advisement の語源・成り立ち Etymology
advisement は advise + -ment で、advise は古フランス語 avis を経てラテン語 videre「見る」系にさかのぼります。vision や visible と同根で、「よく見た上で意見すること」が核だから、advisement には熟慮の響きが残ります。
Advisement is built from advise and the noun ending -ment. Advise came through Old French and ultimately goes back to Latin videre, "to see," the same root found in vision and visible. The historical idea is of giving an opinion after looking carefully, which is why advisement still suggests careful thought.
