Albedo is the amount of light or heat that a surface reflects. The term is mainly used in science, especially in astronomy, climate studies, and geography.

albedo は「反射する」という一回の動作ではなく、表面がどれくらい光を返しやすいかという“性質・指標”の名詞として覚えると定着しやすいです。まず high albedo / low albedo をセットで入れ、雪・氷・雲は高い、海・森林・アスファルトは低い、と対比で記憶すると強いです。天文学や気候の話で surface, sunlight, planet, Earth と一緒に出やすいので、「明るく見える天体や白い地表ほど albedo が高い」という場面ごと覚えると意味を取り違えにくくなります。
