alphabetical は alphabet と -ical から成り、alphabet は後期ラテン語 alphabetum、もとはギリシャ語 alpha＋beta に由来します。alphabet や alphabetize と同根で、文字どおり「A・Bの並びに従う」ことから「アルファベット順」の意味です。
