順序や規則性のない。あらかじめ決まっていない無作為な選択や抽出。
If something is random, it happens without a clear plan, pattern, or reason. It is often used for choices, events, or information that seems unexpected or not connected. In casual use, it can also mean strange or surprising.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
random は「予測できない・規則が見えない」とまとめて覚えると使いやすい。まず rule や order の反対側に置くと意味が安定する。random choice, random sample, randomly selected の形でよく出て、特に「人が適当に選んだ」のではなく「偏りなく無作為に選んだ」という文脈で頻出。funny や strange のような「変な」とは別で、あくまで規則性がないことに注目すると混同しにくい。
