酸素がほとんど存在しない、または組織に十分な酸素が届いていない状態を表す形容詞。医学では脳や臓器の酸素欠乏、生態学では湖底や深海などの無酸素環境、急性の事故や病態の説明に使われる。
Anoxic means having no oxygen, or not enough oxygen to support normal life or function. It is used in medical, biological, and environmental contexts, such as describing body tissue, water, or air conditions. The word is more technical than everyday vocabulary.
