解説 Definition
自叙伝（じしょでん）とは、著者が自分自身の人生や経験について書いた本のことです。他人が書く伝記とは違い、本人の視点から綴られます。
A book or written account about a person's life, written by that same person. It usually describes important experiences, events, and personal thoughts. It is different from a biography, which is written by someone else.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
まず biography を「伝記」として押さえ、そこに auto- が付くと「自分についての伝記」だと考えると覚えやすいです。auto は automatic・autopilot などでも見かける「自動／自分で」の感覚があるので、自分で自分の人生を語る本だと結び付けると定着します。biography は他人が書く、autobiography は本人が書く、という対比をセットで覚えるのがコツです。read / write / publish an autobiography の形でもよく出ます。
Start with `biography`, then add `auto-`, which often means `self`. That gives you an easy memory link: a life story written by the person themselves. The contrast is useful: `biography` is by another writer, `autobiography` is by the subject.
