bendable は bend「曲げる」+ -able「…できる」から成る語です。bend は古英語 bendan にさかのぼり、さらにゲルマン祖語 *band-「縛る・ひも」に連なり、bind や bond と同根です。「縛って弓をしならせる」感覚から「曲げられる」になったと分かります。
