派手に燃える blaze とつづりが近いのに、意味はむしろ逆で、何を見ても心が燃え上がらない状態だと置くと覚えやすい。a blase attitude, be blase about fame など、刺激や経験が多すぎて、もう驚きも感動も出ない冷めた態度に使う。単なる tired や bored より、seen it all という「見飽きた」「慣れきった」感じが強く、少し気取った無関心さを含む語だと押さえると残りやすい。
`Blase` looks close to `blaze`, but the feeling is almost the opposite. A blaze is full of fire and excitement; someone `blase` has no fire left because they have seen too much already. Remember it with `a blase attitude` or `be blase about fame`. It is stronger and cooler than just `bored`.
