覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
broker を知っていれば、その動作版が brokering。buying / selling の -ing と同じで「仲介すること・仲介業務」と取れる。人そのものは broker、手数料や仲介業は brokerage。brokering は、当事者の間に入って条件を調整し、deal や agreement を実際に成立へ運ぶ動きに焦点がある。単なる紹介より一歩踏み込み、peace brokering, deal brokering のように“まとめ上げる仲介”として覚えると残りやすい。
If you know `broker`, `brokering` is simply the action or process form. It helps to compare the word family: `broker` is the person, `brokerage` is the business or fee, and `brokering` is the active work of making a deal happen. Think of phrases like `deal brokering` or `peace brokering`, where someone stands in the middle and brings people to agreement.

brokering の語源・成り立ち Etymology
brokering は broker「仲介する」に -ing が付いた語。broker は古フランス語 brocheor、さらに broche「串・栓を開ける道具」にさかのぼり、元は樽を開けて酒を取り分ける人だった。broach や brokerage と同根で、「開いて通す」が仲介の核にある。
Brokering comes from broker with the ending -ing. Broker comes through Old French from a word related to broche, meaning a pointed tool or something used to open or pierce; compare English broach. The older idea was of opening a barrel and dealing out goods, which later became the more general sense of acting as a middleman.
