覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
burden が核。まず名詞の burden「重荷」を知っておくと、burdening はその重荷を人に載せ続ける動作と見える。be burdened with ... で「…を背負わされる」もセットで覚えると実用的。load や pressure と近いが、burden は物理的な重さだけでなく、責任・借金・心配のような精神的な重みまで含む語。financial burden, burdening taxpayers, burdening students with debt など“誰に何がのしかかるか”で場面ごと記憶すると定着しやすい。
Start from the noun `burden`, meaning a heavy load. `Burdening` is the action of putting that load on someone, often in a mental, financial, or social way. Common patterns like `burdening taxpayers` or `burdened with debt` make the word easier to keep in memory.

burdening の語源・成り立ち Etymology
burden は古英語 byrthen「重荷」にさかのぼり、さらに bear と同じ beran「運ぶ」が奥にあるため、burdening は burden + -ing で「背負わせること」。bear や birth と同根だと知ると、負担が抽象物でなく「肩に載せて運ぶ重さ」として感じられる。
Burdening comes from burden plus the ending -ing. Burden goes back to Old English byrthen, linked to the verb bear, from an older root meaning "to carry." Because of that history, burdening originally suggests putting a load on someone, and later also took on the wider sense of giving someone trouble or responsibility.
