慢性疾患やがんなどによって引き起こされる著しい体重減少と筋肉の萎縮を伴う衰弱状態。医学的に進行性の身体機能の低下を指す。
Cachexia is a serious condition in which a person becomes very weak and loses a lot of weight and muscle because of a long illness. It is often seen in severe diseases such as cancer or advanced infections. The word is mainly used in medical contexts.
