薬物や麻酔の作用によって感覚や意識が鈍くなり、半昏睡または昏睡に近い状態になることを指す医学語。文脈によっては、潜水時の窒素酔いのように判断力が低下した麻酔様の状態を述べる場合にも使われる。
Narcosis is a state in which a person becomes unconscious, half-conscious, or unable to feel normal awareness because of drugs, anesthesia, or another chemical effect.
