detailed は detail に -ed が付いた語で、語源はフランス語 detailler「切り分ける・細かく述べる」です。de-「離して」＋ tailler「切る」なので、「内容を細片に分けて見せた」→「詳しい」とわかります。関連語は tailor, retail。
