ダイアトニック、調性的な。西洋音楽理論で特定のスケール内の音から構成される。
In music, diatonic means using only the notes that belong naturally to a particular major or minor scale. It is often used to describe melodies, chords, or harmony that stay within that key. It is usually contrasted with chromatic, which adds notes from outside the scale.

diatonic は music の文脈で chromatic（半音で外に広がる感じ）と対比すると覚えやすい語。手がかりは tonic「主音・調の中心」と tone。つまり核は「その調の中の音だけで動く」。C major なら基本は白鍵側の音並びを思い浮かべるとよいです。diatonic scale, diatonic chord のように、あるキーに自然に属する音階・和音を述べる場面でよく出ます。
