disjunctive は中英語でフランス語 disjunctif を経て、ラテン語 disjunctivus にさかのぼります。dis-「離して」+ jungere「結ぶ」+ -ive で、もとは「結びつきを断つ性質のある」。そこから論理で「AかBか」と分ける選言の意味になりました。関連語は join, junction。
