ヒトコブラクダとも呼ばれるアラビアンキャメル。背中に一つのこぶを持ち、砂漠地帯での長距離輸送に適応している。
A dromedary is a camel with one hump. It is commonly found in hot, dry regions and is often used for travel, carrying loads, and farming work.

まず camel を土台に置き、その中の『一こぶで砂漠向きの種類』が dromedary と整理すると覚えやすいです。単に camel は総称ですが、dromedary は Arabian camel とほぼ重なる、より限定的で少し学術的な呼び名。対になるのは二こぶの Bactrian camel。砂漠、隊商、長距離移動、アラビアという場面イメージとセットで覚えると定着します。『ラクダ一般』ではなく『一こぶ種の正式名』として区別するのがコツです。
