Emphasis is special importance or attention given to something. It is used when a speaker, writer, or plan treats one point as more important than others. In speech, it can also mean stress placed on a particular word or idea.

emphasize（強調する）を知っていれば、その名詞形が emphasis。語尾が -ize でなく -is / -sis になる不規則ペアとしてセットで覚えると残りやすい。put/place emphasis on ...（…を重視する）, with emphasis on safety の形が頻出。会話では speech の「抑揚・アクセント」、文章では「重点」の両方で使える。importance は単なる重要性、emphasis は“目立つように前に出す感じ”まで含む。
