enormously は enormous + -ly。enormous はラテン語 enormis「規範（norma）から外れた」にさかのぼり、ex-「外へ」+ norma「基準」から成る。もとは「並外れた」が、そこから「非常に」の意味になった。関連語に enormous, enormity。
Enormously comes from enormous plus -ly. Enormous goes back to Latin enormis, literally meaning "out of rule" or "outside the standard," from e-/ex- "out" and norma "rule" or "measure."
