enunciation はラテン語 enuntiatio にさかのぼり、e-/ex-「外へ」+ nuntiare「知らせる」から成ります。もとは「はっきり言い表すこと」で、そこから音を外に明瞭に出す「発音・明瞭な言い方」の意味になりました。関連語は announce, denounce です。
