人や物に対して付けられた呼び名や称号のこと。特に、人の特徴や性質を表す言葉として使われます。文学や会話では、誰かを説明する際に使われる修飾語です。
An epithet is a word or phrase used as a descriptive name for a person or thing. In formal or literary use, it can highlight a special quality, but it can also mean an insulting label in some contexts.
