To fantasize means to imagine things that you would like to happen, especially things that are unlikely or not real. It is often used for pleasant thoughts, dreams, or desires. It can also suggest thinking too much about imagination instead of reality.

fantasy を知っていれば覚えやすい語です。fantasy が「空想・幻想」という名詞で、-ize が付くと「〜する」になり、fantasize は「空想する」。よく fantasize about ... の形で「…についてあれこれ思い描く」と使います。imagine よりも、現実離れした願望や理想の場面を頭の中で楽しむ感じが強めです。daydream に近いが、語形は fantasy→fantasize と結びつけると残りやすいです。
