まず fluffy（ふわふわした）を知っていれば入りやすい語。fluffing は「毛・羽・枕などをふくらませて、空気を入れて整える」動作で、fluff up a pillow, fluffing feathers のように“見た目のボリュームを戻す場面”と結びつけると残りやすい。そこから比喩で、舞台や撮影で台詞・動作をうまく決められず少し崩す、つまり line をミスする意味にも広がる。-ing は動作中の感じ。bluffing（はったりをかける）とつづりが近いので混同注意。
