verb

っている

解説 Definition

haveの三人称単数現在形で、人や物が何かを所有していることを表す。特徴や状態にも広く使われる。

The third-person singular present form of have, used when a person or thing possesses, contains, experiences, or is characterized by something. It follows subjects such as he, she, it, or a singular noun.

覚え方のコツ Memory Tip

has は have の「he・she・it 用」と覚えるとよい。She has a bike のような所有に加え、The room has two windows「その部屋には窓が二つある」のように物の特徴にも使う。have/has は日本語では「持つ」「ある」「いる」など訳が変わるが、「主語に備わっている」という共通像を持つと整理しやすい。

Treat has as the he, she, it, or singular-noun form of have. Say Mia has a computer, but I have a computer and they have one. Possession is only the central pattern: a house has three bedrooms describes its features, and he has a lot of work describes what is currently assigned or available to him. The shared image is that something belongs to, affects, or forms part of the subject. In pronunciation, has normally ends with /z/, unlike the final /v/ sound in have.

例文

Mia has a new computer.

This house has three bedrooms.

He has a lot of work today.

has の語源・成り立ち Etymology

古英語 habban「持つ、所有する」に由来する have の三人称単数現在形です。古くから主語に応じた活用形を持ち、現代英語では he、she、it や単数名詞を主語とするときに has を使います。

Has is the third-person singular present form of have, whose history goes back to Old English habban, meaning to have, hold, or possess. Earlier English verbs had more endings that changed according to their subjects. Most of those distinctions disappeared, but the contrast between have and has survived. Modern English uses has with he, she, it, and singular noun subjects, both as a main verb and as an auxiliary.
