history を知っていればつなげやすい語。historic は単に「歴史に関する」ではなく、「歴史に残るほど重要だ」という評価を含みやすい。ニュースでは historic decision, historic agreement, historic visit のように、大きな転換点になる出来事で頻出する。一方、historical facts / research / novel は「歴史に関するだけ」なので historical。historic building は「由緒や歴史的価値のある建物」と覚えると混同しにくい。
