icon を知っていれば入口は作れます。iconography は「アイコン1個」ではなく、作品や宗教画に繰り返し出る聖人・動物・ポーズ・持ち物など、意味を帯びた図像の“セット”やその読み解き。geography / biography と同じ -graphy が付くので、「何かを整理して記述する分野」と覚えると定着しやすいです。art history や religious iconography の形で見やすく、単に iconic だと言うときとは別語だと区別すると混乱しません。
