idea の語源・成り立ち Etymology
ideaはギリシャ語ideaに由来し、さらにidein「見る」がその根にあります。頭の中に“見える形”が浮かぶことから「考え」「着想」になり、idealやidolにも“見えた姿・形”という核が通っています。
Idea comes from Greek idea, linked to idein, meaning "to see." It first referred to a form, appearance, or mental image, as if something could be seen in the mind. From there it developed into the modern sense of a thought or concept; ideal is from the same root.
