言語学で、名詞・動詞・形容詞などの語形が、時制・数・格・性・法などの文法情報に応じて変わることを指します。英語の動詞活用や名詞の複数形、ラテン語の複雑な語尾変化などを説明するときに使われる用語です。
Inflection is a change in the form of a word to show grammar, such as tense, number, or case. In speech, it can also mean a change in the rise and fall of the voice.
