解説 Definition
生まれつき、先天的に。遺伝や生まれながらの特性として。後天的ではなく、元々持っている性質を表す。
Innately means in a natural way that comes from birth, not from learning or experience. It is used when talking about qualities, abilities, or feelings that seem to be built into a person or animal. It often contrasts with things that are developed later.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
innate を知っていれば、その副詞形が innately。まず「-ly が付くと“〜に”」を押さえると覚えやすいです。意味は acquired(後天的に)や learned(学習で身につけて)と対比すると定着します。innately talented, innately curious のように、「努力や経験の前から備わっている性質」によく付く語。単なる naturally と近いものの、こちらは「生まれつき」という先天性がより強く出ます。
Start from `innate`, then add `-ly`, a common ending that makes an adverb. That makes `innately` easy to store as the adverb form of the same word family. Remember it by contrast with `learned` or `acquired`: this word points to something that was there from the beginning.

innately の語源・成り立ち Etymology
innately は innate「生まれつきの」に -ly が付いた語で、ラテン語 innatus にさかのぼり、in-「中に」+ natus「生まれた」でできています。native や natal と同じ natus 系で、外から得たのでなく生まれた時点で内に備わるという芯が見えます。
Innately comes from innate with the adverb ending -ly. Innate comes from Latin innatus, made from in-, "in," and natus, "born," the same root seen in native and natal. The word kept the idea of something being born into a person rather than learned later.
