inter-「間」と face「面」から、二つのものが接する面を思い描きましょう。interface に -s を付けた複数形で、/ˈɪntərfeɪsɪz/ と発音し、単数形より一音節増えます。
Connect inter-, meaning “between,” with face, and picture the surface where two things meet. Interfaces is formed by adding -s to interface and is pronounced /ˈɪntərfeɪsɪz/, with one extra syllable.

interfaces の語源・成り立ち Etymology
interfaces は interface の複数形。interface は inter-「〜の間」+ face「面」で、face はラテン語 facies「外形・表面」に由来し、「二つの面が向き合う境目」が原義です。関連語に facial、surface があり、要素同士をつなぐ接点という意味が見えてきます。
Interfaces is the regular plural of interface. Interface combines inter-, meaning “between,” with face, ultimately from Latin facies, “form, appearance, or surface.” It originally described a surface or boundary lying between two regions. Scientific and technical use extended this physical image to the point where systems, devices, or software components meet and communicate. The plural ending is pronounced /ɪz/ because the singular already ends in an s sound.
