interviewingは interview＋-ing。interview はフランス語系の語で、もとは entrevue『互いに会って見ること』に由来し、inter-「間で」＋ view「見る」の形です。view や visible と同根で、『向かい合って相手を見る』感覚から『面接する・聞き取りする』になりました。
