インタビュアーは面接や取材などで相手に質問をして話を引き出す人です。場面に応じて丁寧に対応しながら、聞きたい情報を整理して伝えていきます。受け手の表情や声の調子を見ながら、より深い内容を引き出すことも大切な役割です。
An interviewer is a person who asks questions in an interview. This word is commonly used for job interviews, news interviews, and research surveys. The interviewer usually leads the conversation and tries to get information from the other person.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
interview を知っていれば interviewer はほぼそのまま「インタビューする人」。まず語尾の -er は teacher, writer と同じく「〜する人」と押さえると定着しやすいです。場面は job interview の面接官、TV interview の聞き手を思い浮かべるとよいでしょう。answer する側ではなく question を投げて話を引き出す側、つまり interviewee と役割が逆な点に注意。
If you know `interview`, `interviewer` is simply the person who does it. The ending `-er` works the same way as in `writer` or `teacher`. Remember the role: the `interviewer` asks the questions, while the `interviewee` answers them.

interviewerはinterview＋-erで、inter-「間で」＋view「見る」がフランス語・ラテン語系で結びついた語です。もとは「互いに会って見る人」で、質問者とは一方的に聞く人でなく、対面して相手を見きわめる役だとわかります。reviewやpreviewもviewの仲間です。
