雷雲の中で電気が一気に放電して発生する非常に明るい光。空から地面や雲などに向かって流れ、瞬間的に強い光と熱を伴う。落雷は危険なので、雷鳴が聞こえたら建物の中など安全な場所に避難するのが望ましい。
