ある場所に住むことが容易で、生活しやすい環境や条件が整っている状態を表します。居住性が高い場所を指します。
If a place is livable, it is comfortable and suitable for people to live in. It is often used when talking about housing, cities, or conditions such as safety, space, and climate.

livable は live＋-able で、live は古英語 libban にさかのぼるゲルマン系の基本語です。life や alive も同根で、『人がそこで生きていける』が中心なので、住みやすい・暮らせる場所という意味が自然に見えてきます。
Livable is formed from live and the suffix -able. Live comes from Old English libban, part of an old Germanic family that also gave English life and alive. The word originally meant simply "able to be lived in" or "able to support life," and that basic idea remains clear in its later use.
