locking は lock の現在分詞・動名詞で、「鍵をかける、ロックする」動作や、そうすることを表します。ドアや機器などを、鍵や暗証番号などなしでは開けたり使ったり動かしたりできない状態にすることです。

- before locking the room のように、前置詞の後にも使えます。 Locking can also follow a preposition, as in before locking the room.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
lock にそのまま -ing を付けて locking。lock は ck で終わるので子音を追加しません。鍵をかけて、開閉や使用を止める様子を思い浮かべましょう。
Add -ing directly to lock to make locking. Since lock already ends in ck, no extra consonant is added. Picture a lock preventing something from being opened or used.
