効果が証明されていないインチキ薬や万能薬のこと。また、問題に対する安易な解決策を指す。
A nostrum is a medicine or cure that is sold with big promises but is not trustworthy or proven to work well. It can also mean any simple answer to a difficult problem that sounds too confident or unrealistic. The word is usually critical in tone.
