スポーツでは競技エリアの境界線を越えてコートの外に出た状態を指し、審判がプレーを止める。比喩的には、話題や行動が許容範囲を超えていて禁止・立入禁止であることを明確に示す。
If something is out of bounds, it is outside the area, limit, or rules that are allowed. It is used in sports for a ball leaving the playing area and also more generally for behavior or topics that are not acceptable.
