peeled は peel の過去分詞からできた形容詞です。語源は古フランス語 peler、さらにラテン語 pilare「毛や皮を取り去る」にさかのぼり、pilus「毛」とつながります。表面を一枚はぐ感覚が核で、depilate や pillage ではなく depilation が近い関連語です。
